R25.5 MILLION LOTTO WIN WON’T STOP WINNER FROM RETURNING TO JOB

Some of us hate our day jobs so much, that we dream about the day that we win the lottery, only so that we can quit. Not so for a Capetonian who says that winning a hefty R25.5 million jackpot won’t see him leave his job in the retail sector.

“I plan to continue working!” she told Ithuba, operator of South Africa’s National Lottery. The man told Ithuba that he always “had a feeling” that he would won day win one of South Africa’s lotteries such as Lotto or Powerball. He confirmed that he would not be going public about his win and opted, instead, to remain anonymous.

The Lotto Plus 1 winner said that he picked his own numbers manually when he bought his lottery ticket from the local Pick n Pay.

Asked about his plans for the giant windfall, the man said that he hopes to invest in property and use some of it to pay off his debts.

Buying a House with Lottery Win

Buying property seems to be a common thread among winners who reveal what they plan to do with their prizes.

A domestic worker from the Western Cape was also a lottery jackpot winner this week, after bagging R4.5 million on the Lotto draw.

Ithuba released a statement this week, quoting the woman: “I was so excited when I found out that I won, I screamed!”

The winner said that she was definitely planning on buying a bigger house.

She, too, won’t be going public with her win and has only shared the news with her daughter.

Big Lotto Wins in January 2023

As we wrap up the first month of the year, Ithuba is proud to reveal that a number of lottery players won multimillion rand jackpots in January.

The first person to kick off the lottery celebration was a 50-year old from Roodepoort who won R32 million in the New Year’s Eve Lotto draw.

Most recently, a 28 year old who works in a Pretoria call center took home a fantastic

R72 million in what was the first Powerball jackpot of the year.

Another pair won R5.4 million each in a January 14th draw.
